JUPITER, FL - Roger Dean Stadium is proud to announce that the Florida State League has selected Jupiter Hammerheads General Manager, Brian Barnes, as its’ 2009 Executive of the Year.

During his time in Jupiter, Barnes has played a big role in helping to manage the only two team operation in Minor League Baseball.  In addition to his responsibilities with the two clubs, Barnes plays a prominent role in the Spring Training operations for both the Florida Marlins and St. Louis Cardinals.

"I am truly honored to receive this award and feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to represent the Florida State League," said Barnes. “This award is an honor for me, but is a greater reflection on the job our staff does to bring a quality product to our fans 140 games each year.”

Growing up in South Florida, Barnes was fortunate to get his start in professional baseball with the West Palm Beach Expos during their final season. The club moved to Jupiter when Roger Dean Stadium opened in 1998 and became the Hammerheads. During his time with the organization, Barnes has worked in a number of areas from ticket sales to stadium operations to marketing and events before working his way up to leading the minor league operation in 2002.

Barnes is currently the head of the Florida State League Sports Turf Committee and is actively involved with a number of charities and community groups in South Florida, including the Palm Beach Gardens High School 5-Star Magnet Program, Friends of Jupiter Beach, and Cancer Alliance of Help & Hope.
