Located an hour and half north of Miami, Roger Dean Stadium is home to Spring Training for the Miami Marlins and St. Louis Cardinals, as well as the home stadium of the Jupiter Hammerheads, the Palm Beach Cardinals, the Gulf Coast Marlins, and the Gulf Coast Cardinals. With the balmy South Florida weather and a small-town feel, catching a game at Roger Dean Stadium is always a great experience.
Jeffery Draluck, Promotions and Marketing Manager for the ballpark, says that the 7,000 person stadium was originally built in 1998 for $28 million dollars- with the intention of sharing it between the Atlanta Braves and Montreal Expos. "The Braves ended up backing out of the deal and that is how the St. Louis Cardinals got involved," he says
Roger Dean is the only stadium in the U.S. to host two Spring Training teams as well as two Minor League teams- meaning you can catch exciting match-ups spring through fall. The stadium recently went under major renovations, including new seating and a new sound system. The upgrades to the stadium were introduced during the qualifying round of the World Baseball Classic, during which Roger Dean Stadium hosted teams from Spain, France, Israel, and South Africa.
Roger Dean Stadium is also deeply rooted and involved in the local Jupiter community. Both the staff and athletes who call this field home frequently participate in fundraisers and awareness campaigns. The Cardinals/Marlins Fund offers financial assistance to local non-profit organizations that encourage the participation of young people in sports. But team involvement gets even more personal, with player visits to local hospitals and schools; meal delivery for families; and other community-related events. The stadium also hosts charity walks and fundraisers in and around the stadium
A trip to Roger Dean Stadium is a well-established pastime for those who call Jupiter home. Season ticket holders have been coming since the park opened in 1998 and attribute the success of the stadium to the warm, safe, and homey environment the staff at Roger Dean Stadium strive to maintain season after season. The staff at Roger Dean Stadium are proud of their work both in the community and in the fast paced world of professional baseball.
